Aladdin - Sega Genesis from Virgin Interactive, Disney, Sega.
5 original compositions and 5 arrangements from the movie were composed by Donald S.
Griffin at the request of Virgin's audio director, Tommy Tallarico, who did the Genesis
instruments and incidental transition music. Tommy assigned names to my code numbered
tunes and the one he called 'Rug Ride' he eventually revoiced to all piano (sounding like
two frantic Liberaces) and put it on Virgin's telephone system for several months. I never
knew until I was put on hold the first time! |

Destiny - PC from Interactive Magic.
25 minutes of all original CD music collectively called destiny but divided into
movements depicting the different aspects of the game. Progress, Diplomacy, etc. Plus a
high resolution music and sound effects sound track synced to the intro .avi movie. A high
res segment from 'progress' in .AU format can be downloaded from Interactive Magic's Site.
(Click on the box cover graphic.) I may also have some clips at this site by the time you
read this. |

American Civil War: From Sumter To Appomattox from Interactive Magic.
Half an hour of CD audio original arrangements of authentic Civil War music performed
approximately in the style of the time (only a few libertys were taken for modern ears)
using either Brass Band or Fife & Drum. Music Research by Ellen Sorstokke (esorstok@ix.netcom.com) |

The Jungle Book - Sega Genesis from Virgin Interactive.
Arranged 'I Wanna Be Like You' (King Louie's Tune) and one original composition both
with Genesis Instruments by Mark Miller. |

The Jungle Book - Super Nintendo from Virgin Interactive.
Arranged 'I Wanna Be Like You' (King Louie's Tune) and one original composition both
with Genesis Instruments by Mark Miller. |

Mario's Time Time Machine - PC from Software Toolworks.
Many original compositions in the style of different historic eras and locales. Music
Research by Richard Kaplan. |
|
Mario's Time Time Machine Deluxe - PC from Software Toolworks.
Many original compositions in the style of different historic eras and locales. Music
Research by Richard Kaplan. When the game went 'Deluxe' the instrumentation was modified
from the original DOS game format which used my custom instrument set for Windows 95
generic MIDI by Don 'Murph' Lloyd the producer. |

Aegis: Guardian Of The Fleet - PC from Software Sorcery and James Jones.
Original Music. |

Jutland - PC from Software Sorcery and James Jones.
Original Music and Historical Arrangements. |
|
Wild Learning Safari - PC from Comptons NewMedia.
About 24 original pieces of music depicting natural scenes around the world. |
|
Razzle Dazzle 3D - PC Screen Saver from WorldWide Microtronics.
'Self Composing' Algorithmic Music Engine.
Donald S. Griffin designed a Music Engine that, using very small files, could generate
new music for up to 50,000 hours without generating the same tune. It could be (and was)
easily adapted to different musical styles with add-on modules. I only saw one magazine
review but it was very positive with respect to the music engine. |
|
Monopoly Deluxe - PC (DOS version only) from Virgin Interactive.
This original Dixieland theme was so well received it inspired the artists to create
animation of 'Rich Uncle' conducting the music while it plays. It is the favorite of my
wife, Kathy, and is sort of a good luck charm so I put it at the end of every "all
new" demo tape. |
|
Cool Spot - Sega Genesis from Virgin Interactive
The tune from the level used in the automatic demo mode was originally contracted by
Virgin for Monopoly Deluxe (above) but audio producer Tommy Tallarico, who did the rest of
the game's music, liked it so much that he re-voiced it and put in Cool Spot too. |
|
Rules Of Engagement 2
Several original pieces of music including a new main theme arrangement which includes
a highly modified version of the theme orginally composed by Dave Govett(?) (one of the
Fat men.) Tom Carbone, creator of the Rules and Breach series' says I can quote him that I
was his favorite game composer. |
|
Carrier Strike - PC from SSI (Strategic Simulations, Inc.)
Several pieces of original music. This was my first game music. Computer Gaming World
liked it.
I was immediately also contracted for music for Conflict: Korea but the finished music
never made it into the game. There were difficulties with installing the Pascal sound
drivers so the game had no sound at all at a time when some sort of sound had just become
a necessary thing in any game. |
|
Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing Version 3.0 - Software Toolworks.
Several pieces of original music plus a new arrangement of their traditional theme. A
programming mistake that reprogrammed a music voice on the MIDI sound card to play an
error beep caused the game music to sound terrible after your first mistake in a typing
game. Ample punishment to be sure. I'd prefer a ruler across the knuckles myself. |
|
Lords Of Midnight - PC from Domark.
Original digital audio sound tracks for both the cinematic introduction and dramatic
ending. The Producers were blown away. When the music was mixed with the narration in
England and added to the video it was very badly degraded by their mixing process. I will
try to include some better quality clips from that music here. An entire interactive MIDI
sound track was completed, tested, and approved in the US but in the UK they opted for
Carmina Barona (done there) over and over and over and over and over again. That music
(not mine) was badly criticised in magazine reviews. Such is life. |

More to come as I acquire art (and remember more projects) and add new titles.
