Yamaha SW1000XG

Yamaha SW1000XG    audlogo.gif (8531 bytes)

The Yamaha SW1000XG is a two port (32 part) synthesizer with a 20 megabyte sample ROM, 12 channel mixing capabilities, a MIDI interface, SPDIF digital outs, RCA analog outs and an 18 bit DAC (digital to analog converter) or superior sound quality. The SW1000XG supports General MIDI and XG format MIDI and has over a thousand instrument patches. It has lots of effects including reverb and chorus that can be assigned an a per channel basis and even applied to the sound coming in the audio inputs.  It can be connected internally to a DS2416 digital mixing card to send its outputs directly to the DSP factory for mixing in the digital domain. The street price is about $530.

We are reviewing the SW100XG in combination with the DSP Factory but not everyone visiting this site will be interested in the DSP Factory and indeed the SW1000XG has enough features that many home studio users and MIDI hobbyists will never need more that this single card to make some pretty great sounding music.
